A love story of sorts, between a tired-looking farmhouse on the South Coast of NSW and our family of six. We stumbled across the property on a weekend away, and before we knew it was for sale or even floated the idea of moving our four boys to Gerringong from our family digs in Cronulla, we were all in.

As avid travellers to Byron Bay and Bali, we wanted to bring a bit of what they do so well to the South Coast lifestyle. Using my skills as an interior designer and stylist, and Ben’s skills as a builder, we set about restoring and renovating the 1800’s farmhouse into a luxe coastal getaway.

During the reno, we discovered the farmhouse was once a boarding house, owned by the Cooke Family. Being the first people in town to own a car, they would pick people up from the train station and bring them back to stay. So, in a roundabout way, we have returned the farmhouse to its former glory.

After nine months of intense renovations, we opened the doors to the SOUL of Gerringong – a farmhouse with a newly added barn and cabana borne out of the original materials. One year on, SOUL Cottage opened, which was a renovation of the original cottage where farmhands once stayed.

Over the years, Ben and I have worked on many projects together, creating family homes for Sydneysiders. But we wanted the SOUL of Gerringong to be different. To be a place that many can come to relax and escape the daily grind. SOUL of Gerringong is the result of everything we’ve ever wanted in a holiday property – from the tea and coffee facilities to the fireplace and landscaped gardens.
